The best of Deruta tradition, in items full of poetry ...

Since its establishment Ceramiche d'arte Sambuco Mario & C., founded by Mario Sambuco, has shown intense attention and sensibility for the objet d'art, created only with a craftsman's technique. Clay meets water and fire, but above all the human hand, and these are the important elements that hallmark the creation of our artistic craft pottery.

All the shapes of historic Deruta ...

Sambuco is proud of its extensive product range, with a vast choice of shapes and decorations, which also include reproductions of historic Deruta models and shapes. Its wonderful designs and application of gold, lustre and precious metals turn these objects into a precise style choice, rich in both aesthetic and practical meaning.

Some of the most significant reproductions of historic majolica cover the floor of the church of San Francesco in Deruta, dated 1524, comprising eight-point star tiles and cross tiles with pointed arms, sixteenth-century albarellos or majolica jars, majolica produced for travelling exhibits promoted by Deruta Municipal Council ("Maioliche Tradizionali Derutesi" [Traditional Deruta majolica]) with copies of majolica found in various international museums, "DOC" majolica presented for the "Dulce est amare" exhibit, also organized by Deruta Municipal Council. Much of the majolica produced was inspired by works of art by the great masters including Caravaggio, Brughel, Klimt, Pintoricchio and, above all, Michelangelo (Cappella Sistina) .
